Marcelo assists Halie with a problem encountered when hitting a "Knee-Cut" tech: If your opponent finds a way to block you from successfully executing a Knee-Cut (i.e. Knee-Slide, Knee-Cross, Knee-Through, Knee-Slice, et al.) Pass, don't keep your weight and pressure forward; doing so may allow your opponent to counterattack or achieve a more successful guard recovery, e.g. Closed Guard. Instead, reset your momentum and slightly change your angle of attack. Switching the direction, and not necessarily towards the opposite side, can yield positive results. Spam your opponent with repeated cuts until you can find a gap in their defenses. Additionally, you can increase your success with a particular technique by pairing it with a complementary one, wherein you can switch back and forth between the two in order to keep your opponent guessing.
