Marcelo divulges his preferred methods for passing from Half-Guard: If you find yourself getting pushed back with frames against your opponent's Half-Guard when you've found the far-side Under-Hook, try driving off of the tips of your toes to maintain a close distance. Arching your back will help you keep low and avoid making too much space for your opponent to recover their knee inside. Seeking Under-Hook & Head Control with a Gable-Grip should be your primary go-to for passing the Half-Guard. If you fall short, then you can rely on a multitude of passing options, e.g. Knee-Slide, Reverse Knee-Slide, Back-Step, Leg-Over, et al (for the follow-up discussion, see: https://www.mginaction.com/VideoDetails.aspx?VideoId=30691).
