Marcelo helps Scott & Phil with details regarding how to begin generating instability into their opponents from the Single-Leg X-Guard: Single-Leg X (a.k.a.; One-Legged X, 1-Leg X, Slash-Guard, Noose-Guard, Snake-Guard, Ashi-Garami, Leg-Lock Guard, et al.) Guard can be effectively employed against a larger opponent to destabilize their base. If you are encountering difficulty oscillating your opponent's balance back-and-forth, try working on implementing the same movements as done when executing an Overhead Sweep, e.g. Tomoenage, Balloon Sweep, et al., requiring you to launch your opponent forward with a Back-Extension type movement. Also attempt to bring your hips closer to your opponent without releasing your feet as hooks and pushing off the floor with them; scoot your hips on the mat and engage your core to help make lifting your opponent up and forward even easier.
