2on1 Control, Cross Arm & Belt Control, Cross Arm & Belt Sweep from Butterfly, 1Leg X Guard Entry from Single Leg Control, 1Leg X Guard Sweep
3 Part Technique - 2on1 Control from Butterfly is one of Marcelo's best set-ups because it can lead to strong sweeps, better controls, deeper guard entries, and it's quite hard for his opponent to break away from. There are several variations for capturing the cross sleeve, but the most important aspect of the control is to tuck his hand underneath your wrist so his backhand is facing you. This will prevent him from being able to counter back with a grip of his own on your gi. As he retracts backward to pull his arm free, scooch your hips in to close the distance and transfer your grip from his elbow to his belt behind his back for Cross Arm & Belt Control. If he doesn't posture upward, simply fall onto your side and throw him over with a Reverse Hook Sweep. If he does posture up, particularly with the aid of a posted leg, then capture his leg with an underhook and drop your back onto the mat, flinging him overhead. If he tries to break away from your 2on1 Control earlier by standing up and yanking himself free, stay sticky and switch for Single Leg Control, entering swiftly into the 1-Leg X-Guard for the sweep.
