Paul demonstrates an effective method for taking the back: The notion of smashing is commonplace in many different positional aspects of grappling, e.g. Passing, Side-Control, Knee-on-Belly, Mount, et al.; however, an often overlooked place that can utilize this technique is from Back-Control. Starting from the Front-Headlock Position, if your opponent takes an outside step up in order to sit-through and pull themselves into guard, you can capture their leg with yours forming a hook around it. Switch for Seat-Belt Control and fall over onto the opposite side where you can then wedge your other leg in between your opponent's legs and find a Back-Hook. Use your Seat-Belt to help pressure your opponent into turning belly-down so that you can cut underneath of their hips and pull them from a Weak-Side Seat-Belt with one Back-Hook set into the Strong-Side with both hooks-in.
