Marcelo rushes against a seated opponent: Get through your opponents hands first and shove them onto their back; if they capture your lead leg with a Single-Leg attempt, keep your same-side hand on their collar or post it above their head and swing your far trailing leg hard and fast towards the opposite side, landing in the Back-Step. You must execute this part of the technique strongly and quickly because you want to avoid giving your opponent an opportunity to capture your free leg on its way to Reverse-Half. When you land, be ready to pummel your Under-Hook once your opponent turns to face you; use it to help keep them on their side while you work to kick yourself free from their Reverse Half-Guard. Use short, quick kicks so that your opponent doesn't have another chance to bind both of your legs together. Also, don't lean away to generate power with your kick; keep your weight forward on your opponent and use your Under-Hook to pin them back down flat after you clear your foot.
