Advanced Lesson Part 2 of 2 -- Paul slyly hunts down a Crucifix against the Deep-Half Guard: If your opponent manages to capture around your thigh of the leg trapped in between their own for the Deep-Half Guard, use your hands to help post off the mat and push your hips low back towards their hips; your opponent will be trying to place your weight overhead with their shoulders under your hips for a sweep if you cannot readily adjust. After shifting back, raise your hips up just enough to cross your outside knee behind your trapped leg, cutting behind their arm that is occupied with securing their Deep-Half. You can use your free-leg to help pry your other leg out of Deep-Half and catch the Crucifix when they turn onto their knees. If your opponent is reluctant to pronate, you can dive underneath of their back by rolling through towards the outside; quickly secure their bottom arm with at least 1-on-1 same-side wrist control so as to prevent them from readily escaping from your back-position. Work against their neck for the Rear-Naked while their arm is still trapped in between your legs with the Crucifix.
