North South Choke from Side Control
2 Part Technique - The North South Choke is available even when your opponent assumes a defensive posture with his hands protecting his neck and his elbows close to his chest. Use your chest to scrape away his nearside hand from his neck and drop your forearm onto his farside elbow to clear his neck on the other side. Before the opponent has a chance to turn his face and look into the choke to counter, land your ribs onto his cheek to block him and quickly flatten out your hips or you'll risk being reversed. Connect your hands together, supporting your choking hand by cupping from underneath, and finish by dropping your weight away from his chest onto his throat with your bicep and shoulder. If he turns his face into you before you can successfully trap his head for the choke, shift yourself low and shovel his face away with your lat.
