2 Part Technique - The Americana from Side Control isn't a high percentage finish against a skilled opponent, however it is a great way to distract him while you maneuver yourself into an undefended mount and trap his other arm that he uses to rescue himself from the threatened shoulder-lock. Step across his chest, planting your heel close to his armpit on the mat and swing your leg over his face as you sit back extending his arm for the Armbar from Mount. If he realizes your intentions and looks to hide his elbow from attack by dropping his shoulder to the mat, stop him by switching from the Americana Grip to the Kimura Grip. Sit back, swinging your leg over as before, all the while keeping taut on his arm in anticipation that he will look to defend with a grip. Keep his hand away from his chest and kick off any grip he makes with the foot across his chest. Finish by pulling down on the side of his legs and raising your hips.
