Hand Fighting from Butterfly
Marcelo and Jon discuss about what do against an elusive or reluctant opponent standing in front of you Butterfly Guard. If he pounces or tries to dart in at an angle, engage your hooks and try to follow his legs with them. If he back pedals, slow his evasion by hugging at his head and latching onto a leg or arm on his way out. Success in Hand Fighting from Butterfly comes from learning how to be sticky. Every time he tries to break one of your grips, you lunge onto an adjacent limb -gaining even better control than with what you initiated with. If he tries to remove your grip on his wrist, switch to the wrist of the hand he tries to rescue with. When he tries to remove that, switch to a collar tie and an elbow. If he removes that, pummel for an underhook, etc.
