4 Part Technique - Which type of offensive entry you use against a standing opponent from the Butterfly Guard is entirely dependent upon his level of engagement. If he his close enough to establish grips on his hands or wrists, he will leave his ankles exposed for the Ankle Push Sweep or for an Ankle Pick if he tries to pull away his arms in defense. Pull his ankle to your side while sliding your legs underneath his base and capture his lead leg with the 1Leg X-Guard. If he remains staggered, execute the 1Leg X Guard Sweep by rocking him from side to side; if you can catch his other ankle with your hand, hit the Ankle Pick Sweep from 1Leg X. If your opponent is retreating away from the Hand Fight, time his step so that you can kick out his foot from the mat and reel it into your guard.
