2 Part Technique - The Stacking position is the best position for escaping yourself from the threat of an armbar submission. After you initially protect your arm with the Figure-Four counter grip, sit up with your opponent as he falls back for the armlock so you can use his momentum against him to pull yourself to kneeling. If he grabs onto your leg in what some refer to as the Spider-Web position, which will disable you from rocking your leg, straighten your leg to reveal his grip so your other leg's foot can kick it off. Since he will catch it again if you swing, twist your hips hard and belly down to the mat so you can drive him up into the stack.
