Hip Roll Escape vs Side Control
2 Part Lesson — Marcelo explores two incremental variations of the Hip-Roll Escape: [I] If your efforts to escape Side Control prove futile as you work against the nearside arm to prevent the Crossface, switch over to the opposite side and turn for the Hip-Roll Escape. Press down on the opponent's biceps with both hands until your hips can clear his arm and you can freely swing your leg around for the Guard Recovery. [II] If you encounter trouble clearing the Farside Arm off of your side, tilt up onto your shoulder and plant your toes into the mat, driving your weight into the opponent.
