2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo executes a Half Granby Roll: If all your frames collapse as your opponent closes in to clinch you in Side Mount, turn away to the opposite side and protect yourself against Seatbelt Control. Turn over onto your knees and push with your toes to throw your hips onto your opponent to recover back your Open Guard. [02:46] When you expose your backside to escape Side Control, you must not allow your opponent to switch gears and cinch up control over your back with the Seatbelt. As the person on top, if your opponent gives up his or her back to escape, work to pull them back flat before they purchase enough base to kick over and recover.
