Many jiu-jitsu players wonder if there is a "Gi Version" of Marcelo's Guillotine choke, and the Loop Choke certainly qualifies. However, it isn't something that he will actively hunt for, because it's application immediately alarms his opponent to defend. If he can manage to get his hand that deep on the collar, then okay, Marcelo will look to get on top and grab whatever he can to prevent the opponent from rolling out of the choke. Marcelo considers the Loop Choke a gift from his opponent, and he certainly wouldn't expect a high-level competitor to give it to him, hence why he currently doesn't teach or specifically train for this move.

I'm not sure I follow, ahr22202. What do you mean by "lowers his base"? Also, it's easier for everyone to help answer questions when you post in our forum. Come and join the community! (:

What does Marcelo recommend if someone drops their head and lowers their base in the gi?
