4 Part Lesson -- Marcelo teaches the Loop Choke: When playing on bottom in guard (Lazy-Butterfly, Knee-Shield, Shin-Shield, Z-Guard, 93-Guard, Scissor-Half, et al.) with Farside-Collar/Sleeve Control (left-handed cross-collar grip), snap their head down onto the Cross-Grip as you tuck their head underneath your choking arm. [03:39] Concentrate on pressing downward on the back of your opponent's head with your forearm into your choking grip. Try to hold them inside your Half Guard when throttling; if the opponent tries to bail from top position to escape, be prepared to follow them with the pressure and take top positioning for the finish. [06:22] If your opponent is quick to roll out of the choke, try spinning with the opponent until you can recover your guard for the tap. [10:19] After the spin, get ahead of your opponent and pull guard (¾-Guard, High/Low-Guard, et al.) by swinging your leg over their back or shoulder to slow them down long enough for the choke to take effect.

I was trying to hit this all night tonight. My opponents' reaction to my knee shield and control of the cross collar was always to pull away, so I was never able to push their head under my armpit. I was able to grab the back of head a couple of times, but never finished getting it under the arm. Does this have to been done super fast? Any good way to set it up?
