3 Part Technique - Don't wait for your opponent to set up a technique from inside his Closed Guard; immediately pop up to your feet, kick out of the Ankle Sweep, and uncross his feet with your arm for the break. However, if you do happen to fall backward from the sweep, post one hand behind to remain sitting up while framing against his hip with your other hand, but keep your elbow hidden from an armbar or triangle, and reset yourself back inside his guard or get out right away. Since you know his guard will be hard to break after falling back, buy yourself more time by stepping onto his bicep as you pop up to your feet to break open his guard. We don't resort to this variant as the primary breaking method because it takes longer to set up, and the normal stand-up works the majority of the time.
