2 Part Technique - If for some reason or another, you cannot explosively stand to break open your opponent's Closed Guard, press up onto your feet in a staggered stance and keep your weight onto your lead foot as you pry open his ankles. Leaning over your lead knee will help prevent him from sweeping you back after he underhooks the ankle. If he continues to try sweeping you with his underhook after you are out of his Closed Guard, grab onto his belt and yank him backward into the Turtle position for the Seatbelt and Rear Naked Choke. If he doesn't let go of your hand to fasten the Seatbelt, hold his arm to keep him from spinning his back away and work your arm free until you can establish a stronger back control.
