2 Part Technique — Passing the Half Guard is normally accomplished by maintaining tight Underhook & Head Control throughout your movement. However, this pressure can be detrimental if your opponent crosses his nearside arm in an attempt to spin out from underneath your pass. When you notice this happening, establish with Knee-On-Belly after freeing your leg from his Half Guard. If he does nothing after your counter, settle back down. If he continues to roll; ride along and take his back. In the event that he crosses his arm but doesn't bridge, run to the North South where you can reestablish with Over/Under Control. If his arm remains extended on your back, switch your base back and sit back into a Nearside Armbar -similar to a reverse version of the Spiral Armbar.
