Armbar from Mount
3 Part Lesson — Paul elucidates some key details in obtaining the Armbar from the Mount Position: [I] Threaten the opponent with a deep cross collar grip to begin exposing his arm for attack when he defends. Cup behind his triceps, pulling him onto his side, and smother the back of his arm with your chest, flattening him back down to the mat with his arm completely exposed for attack. Slide your hips forward, raising your knee high by his head, and swivel around his arm, forming a perpendicular angle to his side. Capture his arm, falling back with control over his wrist, and swing your leg over his face, completing the armlock position. [II] If the opponent defends by hiding his arm under a figure-four lock, make an S-Grip and thread your opposite hand through the loop of his arm, allowing you to capture his nearside leg in a 'Spider-Web' Cradle. Slowly apply pressure to the arm until it loosens enough for extension. You may cross your ankles to hold his far shoulder in place—but make sure to place the ankle of your leg over his face on the bottom of the lace. [III] If you encounter trouble breaking his grip, sit back up and pop his far elbow to jar open his grip. Be sure to do this unexpectedly against your opponent, and capture his wrist immediately to prevent the re-counter.
