2 Part Lesson — Marcelo wants his students to understand when to bail out of a failing defense in order to catch-up on lost ground using the opponent's own momentum: [I] Oftentimes, when quickly passing with a Knee Slide, your opponent may turnover for a Single Leg, and then a Double. When this happens, you may not be able to Sprawl in time to recover back your hips from falling; look to frame off of the opponent's shoulders and free one leg, slipping up and out of the Double. Continue posting on the shoulder to slip your other leg free from the Single. [II] If you fall before freeing at least one leg, reverse directions and begin closing the distance with Butterfly Hooks and the Front Headlock. Utilize the Guillotine Sweep toward the trapt inside arm to land on top and even the score.
