3 Part Lesson — Marcelo reverses a takedown attempt: [I] Avoid letting your opponent set a grip on your collar; try smacking it away before he can harden his fist. If he does set the grip, back pedal and use two hands to yank his hand away from your jacket. Be prepared to block his shoulders and sprawl your hips back if he tries to shoot off of the grip as you break it. You may have to sprawl back twice if he reshoots. [II] Meet your opponent's reshot with an underhook and turn the corner to whip him over onto his back. Use your feet to drive at an angle with the Underhook to take Side Control. [III] If your opponent posts wide to prevent the Whip-Over, drop back in front and take the Headlock. Suck in his elbow while holding the Front Headlock with a Gable or Seatbelt Grip and insert your knee behind his triceps. Release the headlock and switch for the Seatbelt to pull him onto your hooks for Back Control.
