2 Part Lesson — Marcelo shows an important counter to a popular pass: [I] If your opponent attempts an Single Leg Stacking Pass, you need to intercept his hand before he makes his grip on your collar; you may still have time to remove his grip before it sets in. Use the back of your leg on top of his shoulder to help press him away from grabbing your collar tightly before you can act. Deflect his hand to expose his tricep for the Elbow Push Escape; if he resists and fights back, swing your leg back around to recover guard with the Hip Roll Escape. [II] If he grabs your collar, press him away as much as you can with your leg. You have to utilize the same principle for breaking grips as when done standing; pulling your body away from the grip while pushing the opponent away from the grip. When loose, latch onto his tricep for the Elbow Escape.
