3 Part Lesson — Marcelo adds to the Stacking Pass Defense: [I] Avoid letting your opponent make a Collar Grip and apply a Stiff-Arm Action to his triceps for the Elbow Push Escape against the Stacking Pass. If he makes the grip, press the back of your leg on his shoulder to keep him off of you as much as possible and work to break the grip for the Elbow Push. If he passes your leg, swing your other leg in front of his body and push him away with the Foot Wipe Escape to recover back your guard. [II] Ease the ability to swing your bottom leg for the Foot Wipe by pressing on the opponent's shoulder with your first leg and gaining height. If your opponent anticipates the swing and circles around to pass to the other side, find his arm before he can grab your head or body and peform the Elbow Push Escape on the other side. [III] If your opponent has weight and/or tries to make you suffer in the Stack, shimmy your shoulders away and swing your bottom leg underneath his far leg to hook under his leg, bringing it close enough to grab and stop the pass (and possibly sweep).
