Marcelo helps Greg understand the finer aspects of Handfighting from Butterfly: Never expose your elbows (or feet) and open up space around your body for the opponent to attack. Keep your elbows tight to your side, all while fighting for grips and looking for your opponent to make a mistake in his posture and/or base. If he tries to close the distance on you, use your forearm to frame against his body and keep him at bay. Depending upon the skill level of your partner/opponent, you may need to amplify a small mistake into a bigger one. Don't forget to use your Butterfly Hooks to attack the Combat Base if it is within reach. In conclusion, Alex understands that Marcelo wasn't a fan of hybrid, Bossa-Nova/Punk CD from Greg.
