3 Part Lesson — Marcelo shows countermeasures against Standing Pressure to Butterfly Guard: [I] User your hands to intercept your opponent's attack whether it be aiming for your head, hands, or feet. Avoid letting your opponent touch your ankles and block him from making a grip. [II] Regardless of your choice in Guard, stay relaxed, actively moving, and alert to your opponent's plans. Do not tense up; allow your limbs to freely move wherever they need to go to track any danger. If your opponent steps inside your Butterfly Guard with his lead leg, push off of his knee with your hand to retreat. Also, evade the opponent's attempt to touch or grab your head. [III] If he keeps pushing his leg inside predictably, time his step and attack with an Ankle Pick Takedown from Butterfly. Anticipate his next attempt and knock him backward. If he doesn't fall back, come up with the Single.
