Spin Retention vs Back Step, Breaking Grips from 1Leg X Guard
Marcelo helps Joel understand how to reset his 1LX Guard after his opponent grabs onto his ankle. Use your bottom leg to kick yourself deeper underneath and also use it to flag out, preventing the backstep. Use your free hand to reach up and yank the grip off of your ankle to retain your guard position. It is important to understand the need for a jerking action when trying to free yourself from a hold.
