3 Part Lesson — Marcelo teaches a sequence: [I] If you lose control over your opponent's hands after pulling Seated Guard and he picks up your ankles to place you flat on your back for the Stacking Pass, straighten out your legs, making them heavy, and wipe him off of the position with your legs. Since he is attacking your legs, look for Double Under Control before he has a chance to reach your feet again. Use your Butterfly Hooks to lift him into Single Leg X-Guard and finish the sweep. [II] If your opponent turns the corner around your leg to pass before you can recover, push his exposed triceps and sit up for the escape. If you cannot push and he continues to circle around, splay your legs apart to prevent him from connecting his hands together and run your legs away. Continue controlling the arm and drop all of your weight through your armpit and down on top of the opponent's shoulder while you control the forearm and wrist to finish the "Steven Seagal" or Wakigatame. [III] If your opponent rolls over, either cover over into Side Control or finish the armlock if you can switch your grip to a figure-four Double Wristlock and press for the Straight Armbar/Americana.
