Sprawl vs Deep Half Entry → Over Under Pass vs Half Guard → Back Step Pass vs Half Guard
2 Part Lesson — Marcelo counters entry into the Deep Half with two passes: [I] If you're pulled into a Deep Half Guard wherein your opponent has claimed both an Underhook as well dominion over your leg with his arm, try to Sprawl your leg free and/or apply a Crossface to keep your weight off of his control. Once stable and posting, push off of his shoulder and pummel for an Underhook for the Over/Under Control Half Guard Pass. [II] If your opponent is able to pull you over his Centerline, post over into Reverse Half Guard and look for the Underhook again with a Backstep Pass. You may have to post on his shoulder like before to clear enough space for the pummel. Remain upright and high with your posture to avoid being rolled back as you use your free leg to kick off the Half.
