2 Part Lesson — Marcelo navigates through 3 paths to Side Control against the Open Guard: [I] Knock your opponent flat on his back and keep him pinned with a post on his torso while blocking around his knee. Shove his leg backward as you extend your lead leg up into the air to clear his leg for Knee-On-Belly. Follow his hip escape until you can crash down into Underhook & Head Control. If he is able to block you from the Standing Step Pass, cut over the top of his leg with the Knee Slide into Side Control. [II] If your opponent is able to keep you centered and pulls you back from the Standing Step, smack his knees to the far side and land down on them, smashing his legs together for the Folding Pass.
