Marcelo & Phil discuss the psychology of competing and how to not worry about what you cannot control. Marcelo may not remember the exact configuration or technique sequence that occurs during a mishap in a match, but he definitely commits to memory the feeling he gets when it happens. You can use the memory of how it feels when something goes wrong to help remind you how best to avoid it from happening again. It certainly helps to have an understanding of the technical aspects, but you can carry yourself much farther in terms of correction with kinesthetic intuition. It is important to know that disruptive thoughts are often unavoidable; but as long as you don't let the negativity effect your ability to apply intense and correct action, you should persevere.
