Sprawl vs Takedown → Breaking Gi Grips from Standing
3 Part Lesson — Marcelo avoids getting taken down: [I] When you come within reach of your opponent's hands, prepare to drop your weight down into a Sprawl if he shoots onto your legs. [II] If your opponent makes a grip on your collar that is strong enough to require you to address it with both hands for the break, and then he shoots onto your leg while keeping the grip, keep both of your hands fixed on breaking his grip as you sprawl. [III] If your opponent makes a grip on your pants that keeps him closer as you sprawl, pummel for an underhook and either use it to break his grip and stand or flip him over onto his back.
