2 Part Lesson — Marcelo cautiously flips over the Turtle Guard: [I] If you spin behind your opponent from the Front Headlock and he closes up into the Turtle Position quickly in defense, you may not have enough time to fit your arms around his head and arm for the Seatbelt. Try forcing your hands inside, but if they don't reach and connect together for the complete grip, immediately take both hands out. Leaving your arms for your opponent to grab from the Turtle can lead to his recovery or worse. Instead, latch onto the back of his jacket by the nape for a Horse Collar Grip and grab his far hip by the pants. Make space away from his side and quickly yank him into the opening to widen his base for the Seatbelt. If he lands on his side, close the distance still and hold the top position. If you land on top of his legs because he tried to recover back his guard on the tug, sprawl your legs far out and run yourself away from the guard. If his arm comes up on your back as he follows, swing your leg over and take the mount. [II] If you land on his leg after mounting, bump forward and hop off of his shin before he can recover with it. Try taking the Spiral Armbar from the Mount, but cinch up his opposite arm if you land on top it.
