1 Part Lesson - Paul and Nick demonstrate a cyclical drill that chains together the Elevator/Hook Sweep from Closed Guard with an Elbow/Knee Escape from (Bottom) Mount. Break your opponent's posture inside your Closed Guard and take an angle with your hips to the side opposite of your head control. When your opponent naively steps up to force your lower back flat on the mat and take away your angle, rotate through to the opposite side, scissoring your legs, and pummel your foot underneath for the Butterfly-Hook. Sweep over to the mount position; on bottom, make your opponent's hands carry some of his or her weight on the mat as you frame against the hips and turn onto your side. Cut your knee underneath your opponent's shin and face the opposite direction to prevent pressure in the Half Guard. Transition to 3/4-Guard and escape your hip to return back to Closed Guard where you can repeat the cycle.
