Escape vs Kimura Trap
2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo shows how he contends with the Kimura-Trap: If you find yourself attacked by a Kimura-Grip (Figure-Four, Double-Wristlock, Gyaku-Udegarami, et al.), perhaps with a Sumigaeshi to counter your Single Leg Takedown from standing, pin your opponent down with your weight as you run your legs away from your opponent's legs. Transition to the top of North/South while holding the opponent down to prevent your arm from twisting into danger. [02:41] If your opponent chases your hips with his or her legs to possibly attack for an Armbar or Back Attack, defend with your topside arm as you take the top position. If your opponent happens to insert his or her bottom knee/leg against your body, it is a better strategy to stand up and away than to stay down holding.
