Back Step Pass vs De La Riva Guard > Back Step Reset vs De La Riva
2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo dissects several intricacies of his Back-Step Pass: Bend your wrist and turn your hand so that the heel of your palm helps you push away your opponent and maintain distance while pivoting around during the Back-Step. You can pummel for a Reverse Underhook against your opponent's far armpit if they reach for your belt, or you can apply a deep Crossface with your hand on their back to finish the pass; you must run N/S if you cannot control the head with your arms. [04:09] If your opponent is controlling your sleeve and preventing you from finding a stabilizer for the pass, pivot back inside out of the Back-Step and into a strong stance for a forward-facing pass.
