3 Part Lesson -- Marcelo explains the difference between his 2on1 and the common Russian variant, as well as 3 different ways of capturing the control: The 2on1 is a vital aspect of Marcelo's attacking game; applying the technique forces your opponent to react in a purely defensive manner, thus allowing you to move forward without the danger of counterattack. Perform a short armdrag (Wrist/Hand-Drag) to feed your opponent's arm into a Cross-Grip, then seize behind the elbow on the triceps to complete the 2on1. You can use this control to pull guard or shoot a takedown. [03:54] If your opponent slaps on a Collar-Tie around your neck, you can shrug off the control directly into the 2on1. Holding the upper arm against your chest like the Russian-Tie 2on1 variation is formidable, however it leaves you without an easy guard pull option. [07:00] If your opponent isn't lending you their arms for the taking, bait the opponent into reaching forward by leaving your hand out and open for a grip. Don't let your opponent solidify the control; immediately, escape and turn the grip into your 2on1.
