Lesson Part 3 of 4 -- Marcelo escapes from the "Crossed" Foot-Lock: If your opponent crosses your ankle into their opposite side armpit, i.e. contralaterally, and falls back for the Straight Ankle-Lock submission, do your utmost to sit up on top and close the distance with grips. Tuck your free leg underneath to rebuild your kneeling base while using your hands to grab onto your opponent's lapel to hold yourself away from extension. Keep close and maintain a Knee-Mount after defending the Straight Ankle-Lock. If your opponent falls back for the same-side attack (ipsalateral), get on top and clear yourself from your opponent's foot and shielding knee. Work to either sink your caught leg's knee down to the mat for Mount, or apply a Leg-Over into the Back-Step for the Reverse Knee-on-Belly Position.
