Seat belt Control from Back, Hook vs Bridging Back Escape
Marcelo and Zane help Jimmy fine-tune his Back Control by adjusting his hooks: Sink your first/bottom back-hook deeply and secure it close to your opponent's hips by pinching inward/medially with your knee while pulling your heel close to your butt in flexion. You can lock your hook in tighter by placing your legs in a Fig.-4 configuration around your opponent's bottom leg. Apply a reverse hip-escape movement by pushing off the mat with your free leg to help bring yourself closer to your opponent when setting your first back-hook (strong-side bottom; i.e. same-side as your arm over the shoulder for the seat-belt). Once your first hook is set, bring your other foot into play and divert your opponent's attention away from the initial hook, forcing them to defend the second hook and possible points.
