Sprawl/Knee-Pin vs Inside Pull/Push Knee-on-Belly Escape
Marcelo opens the floor up for questions from the participants of his advanced class: If you are encountering difficulty establishing a Knee-Mount, e.g. after a Standing-step Pass, your next movement is dependent on which specific reaction your opponent is giving you; if they are insistent on turning over onto a Single-leg, sprawl your leg free and look to spin around to the opposite side and possibly take their back. If their Under-hook is higher up closer to your waist as opposed to your knee, you can attempt various solutions, e.g. taking the Mount, stepping over for a Far-side Spiral Armbar, or even an Omoplata. If they are trying to push and stuff your leg inside of their Half-Guard, you can also shoot your knee forward and attempt to isolate your opponent's near-side arm by pinning it down to the mat with either of your knees as a staple or Mounted-crucifix.
