Marcelo shares advice on when and how to implement a Folding-Pass against the Butterfly-Guard: Your weight alone sometimes is insufficient for holding down a particularly strong opponent; make sure to secure your advance by finding grips along their torso to help anchor yourself into position. Sprawl your hips on top of your opponent's knees and thighs, remembering to keep your back slightly arched and your knees off the mat; this will ensure that you are maximizing your advantage on top and help prevent your opponent from framing you off of themselves easily. The moment you notice your opponent's knee approach center-line, club it across with your forearm and immediately close the distance with your chest, belly, and hips. This can be performed from the standing position where you have farther to drop down but can land with more import.
