3-Part Expert Lesson -- Marcelo & Paul practice some karate and a few high-level X-Guard attacks: Starting from the Butterfly-Guard in a clinch against a kneeling opponent, initiate a Hook-Sweep to force your opponent to switch their base and post your foot out wide, allowing you to settle underneath into X-Guard. If your opponent keeps their balance after you try to knock them backwards, bump them forward to make them post their hands on the mat. Use your free-hand to help capture their near-sleeve and feed it into a Pistol-Grip using your other hand that is holding their near-leg. Take another grip at their biceps to help push them backwards for the sweep; come up ready to stack them with a Double-Under Pass. [4:19] If your opponent stays heavy on top of you while caught in your X-Hooks, set a grip on their collar to help push them away as you remove your top-hook and place it on your opponent's hipline. When they look to push back into you, pull them overhead in the style of Judo's Tomoenage and use the momentum of their fall to back-roll into top position. [8:06] If your opponent settles back with their weight to entice you into a stand-up battle, don't take them up on their offer; instead, reel them back in directly into a Triangle-Choke.
