3-Part Advanced Lesson -- Bernardo dismantles a common defense against mounting from Side-Control: If your opponent places their near-side foot on top of their opposite knee to block you from readily crossing your leg over into the Full-Mount position, break apart their defense incrementally; grab onto their pants and push their leg away just enough to make room for your knee to mount on top of their thigh. Next, switch your grip to the other pant-leg and pull it down to fold your opponent's knees together. Quickly step over both of their legs while still holding onto their pants and settle down into the mount. [2:26] Apply a Cross-Collar Grip to gain access to the back of your opponent's elbow. Make grip on their triceps and push it across their chest as you pivot around their shoulder into the S-Mount (Technical-Mount, et al.); allow your far-foot to tuck underneath their far-arm as you turn the corner and bring your near-knee high above their head. Release the Collar-Grip so that you can secure their near-arm and grab their near-side leg for the Armbar position with leg-control (Spider-Web, Uki-Gatame, et al.). [5:01] You can surprise your opponent with a quick Wrist-Lock attack after you transition from the Full-Mount into the S-Mount variation. Make sure that their elbow is supported by your chest as you look to bend their hand down for the Mao-de-Vaca (Cow's Hoof, Goose-Neck, et al.) wrist-lock submission.
