Back Step Pass vs Half Guard
Advanced Lesson Part 1 of 3 -- Paul demonstrates the Back-Step Pass: If your opponent is able to under-hook you from their half-guard, you can try framing against their shoulder to make enough space for a quick pummel of your own under-hook; however, if they're fast to turn onto their side, opt instead for the Back-Step Pass. Place both hands on the mat above your opponent's head and free your knee slightly before whipping your free leg across to the opposite side. Seek an opportunity to readjust your hips and land on the mat with an under-hook and head-control against the Reverse-Half. Walk your weight away until their knees point towards the direction you are attempting to free your trapped foot and deliver a kick to your opponent's feet to release their hold.
