Advanced Lesson Part 3 of 3 -- Paul converts a Back-Step Guillotine into a North/South Choke: After you've cleared your knee and swung over to the opposite side of your opponent's Half-Guard, they may try to prevent you from successfully snatching up their neck for a Guillotine-Choke by laying flat and keeping their elbows tucked. If you notice this defense, take advantage by pressing their forearms slightly downward and landing your ribcage tightly against their neck as you wrap your arm underneath their head. Finishing the strangle is a matter of taking the time to free your trapped leg and running yourself anti-parallel after kicking your foot out of their Half-Guard. Connect your hands together in a Gable-Grip with the palm of your choking-hand facing down toward the mat and deliver pressure on top of their throat with your shoulder as you squeeze.
