Marcelo implements one of his signature passes: The sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers a unique scenario of engagement wherein an opponent may remain in a downed position and is not obligated to stand back up onto their feet; one can take advantage of this particular separation by shooting into their opponent and forcing a dominant Half-Guard positioning. Step forward in between your opponent's legs and drive your shoulder into their chest, knocking them back flat while pummeling for an Under-Hook & Over-Hook. Emphasize your weight distribution laterally against their inner thigh with your half-guarded leg, and your chest placed along their biceps on the side of your over-hook. Rather than raising your hips in the style of typical Half-Guard passes, and using your instep to pry yourself free, stomp the sole of your free-foot down on top of your opponent's bottom-knee and extract your leg without raising your center of gravity. Conclude the pass by trading your Over/Under-Control for a Crossface & Under-Hook in the Side-Mount.
