2 Part Technique - The opponent cannot interfere with your North South Choke once you scrape away his arms by using your chest and forearm. If the opponent blocks your hip from circling with your forearm, transition into a top crucifix. With his arm trapped, press his far arm down and attack with the North South Choke. If the opponent turns his head towards you, your choke will be against his chin and not the neck. Use your ribs to press and rotate his head upright.

I third the chin issue.  I wonder if the same rib movement that brings the chin forward will work to move the chin up, but haven't had opportunity to  try it yet.

This choke is great, ever since I learned it from Marcelo about 5 months ago on video, I hit it all the time. The second part of this technique shown here was the only part I was missing, which is turning there chin in the proper direction with your ribs if they turn there head early on, but now ive got it, thanks Marcelo!

Can Marcelo please elaborate more on what he does with his arm in order to clear that chin?
I am able to get the transition into the choke, but the opponent is able to shrug just enough to block the choke.
I keep on scooting back, trying to sink that shoulder in, but the chin seems to be in there all the time.
It seems that in this video it is better illustrated how Marcelo enters the choke but I would like to hear his thoughts about it.
It looks like he comes in high and at a 45 degree angle and with that entry is able to free up the chin sufficiently.
