2 Part Technique - When an opponent decides to remain defensive and avoids exposing his arms to a submission by escaping the side control, his neck is still vulnerable to the North South Choke. Using the weight of your chest and forearm to remove his hands away from his face, wrap your arm around his head as you land your side on his neck and spin parallel to the north south position. Try to hide your head to the side before the opponent can frame underneath your chin in defense, but if he does manage to brace his hands to push your head, smack his arms off to the side and hide your head. If he continues to bother your face or shrugs in defense, push and hold his arm away against his side and begin squeezing with your choking arm for the finish. Alternatively, you can open up his shoulder away from his neck by pushing away at his hip if he begins curling his knees toward you.
