Bridge Escape vs Side Control, 2on1 Control Escape vs Side Control, Elbow Push Escape vs Side Control
3 Part Technique - After an opponent has established a tight Underhook and Head Control on you from Side Control, the best way to escape is to take your time, conserve your energy, and reposition your arms in a manner than will begin to undermine his controls. Use a bridge or twist to the side to reposition your forearm in front of his neck, and snake your other hand under his armpit until you can clasp your hands together in front of his shoulder to form a frame. Use the frame to push against his chest to create enough space for you to pummel for an underhook and also ward off his crossface by blocking his arm from the inside. Once here, it will be very hard for him to stop you from bridging up again to create even more space, and spinning back to face him in the guard. If he tries to repummel against your underhook, secure 2on1 control and use it to push your opponent off of you as you recover your guard. If he attempts to transition to the North South position away from your side control defenses, quickly grab his tricep as he reaches over your head and execute the Elbow Push Escape.
