2 Part Technique - The headlock is probably the most common hold you will find yourself in when confronting and opponent who knows nothing about jiu-jitsu; merely from the fact that it is usually the first thing they will grab out of instinct when the fight enters the clinch. Fortunately for you, this is a grave mistake, and it's one you should be ready to capitalize on should the opportunity present itself. Keep an upright posture, with a solid base, and frame his face away while you scoop him off the ground by his knee. Bring him to the floor (gently, with your training partner) and prepare to post on the farside in the event he still holds the headlock and tries to roll you. Step over into mount, create a frame on his face, and extend your arms to break his grip. As he unlocks, take advantage of his extended arm and finish the fight by swinging your foot over his face for the Armbar from Mount. If he is strong and bends you over with the Headlock from the standing position, resort to the Back Body Lock Trip to take him down.
